Joyce Thayer-Sword
If I was to attempt to draw or color a picture of “who I am” I would need crayons or markers in the following colors:
Daughter Sister Mother Mother in law Sister in law Grandmother Divorcee Widow Hoosier Hanoverian Attorney Business owner Teacher And ……… Lover of God and all His creation
I am 67, no longer working in my vocation as an attorney but not at all retired. I am thoroughly enjoying discovering and rediscovering who I am. I find each day to be an opportunity for adventure and learning Some days are good and some less good but each is my day to waste or enjoy. My goal is to waste none of them.
Like so many women I am a mixture of good and bad memories, joyful and sorrowful days, sweet and spicy seasons. I believe most lives, including mine can be compared to a jewel with many facets or faces—as the jewel is turned in the light or cut to fit in a setting the beauty is revealed—not changed but revealed. The beauty is always there, it just has to be exposed to the right light and debris and dirt cleaned/cut away.
My Thayer Thoughts will be my attempt to share some of my experiences and possibly knowledge with the hope that what is written will benefit the reader. This may require the readers to “turn” the jewel I am discussing from their perspective and look at in a “new light”.
